Day 39
Scripture:
"But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere." (2 Corinthians 2:14)
Devotional:
We live in a culture of constant comparison, always desiring more. As we seek to make a greater impact for God, we should examine our motives. When we see what others (or other churches) have or can accomplish, do we find ourselves wanting more? Do we feel envious? Do we frequently complain? One of the best ways to overcome jealousy or a complaining spirit is to cultivate an attitude of gratitude. When we take time to count our blessings, we realize that we lack nothing and can genuinely thank God for His abundant provision. Let us pray together, asking God to help us be aware of His blessings and to let others see our lives filled with gratitude instead of complaints.
Prayer: Praying for a Heart of Gratitude
Holy God, You are our loving Father who gives us every good and perfect gift. You know our needs and promise never to withhold any good thing from those who trust in You. Help us always to remember the many ways You have blessed us and our church. Above all, the greatest blessing is Your presence in our lives. Teach us to have a heart that overflows with gratitude, expressing praise and joy as a testimony of Your goodness. Amen!
